About Jaiya
Jaiya Zafra
My name is Jaiya Zafra, and I am a student from South Pasadena. I have always loved learning, helping others, volunteering and finding other ways to make a difference in my community. Throughout my learning years, I have been lucky to have so many amazing teachers who have inspired me, not just in the classroom, but in life.
I started SPotlight so that I could honor these amazing teachers and share their stories with others. I believe education has an incredible impact on individuals and their lives, and with my project, I would love for people to recognize the educators that make this possible.

My mission

Appreciation
I started SPotlight because I’ve been lucky to learn from so many amazing teachers who’ve shaped who I am today. Their dedication, kindness, and creativity often go unnoticed, but their impact truly lasts a lifetime. Through SPotlight, I want to give back by sharing their stories and reminding our community how important it is to appreciate the people who guide, support, and inspire students every day.
Positivity
SPotlight is all about spreading positivity and recognizing the good that teachers bring into the world. Every story shared reminds us how encouragement, kindness, and support can make a difference in someone’s life. By focusing on the positive moments in education, I hope to inspire others to see the joy in learning and the power of uplifting those around us.

Education
Education has always been something I truly care about. To me, it’s not just about lessons or grades, it’s about discovering who you are, finding what inspires you, and learning from the people who guide you along the way. Through SPotlight, I want to show how powerful education can be when teachers bring creativity, kindness, and passion into their classrooms. Their work reminds me why learning matters and why I hope to one day make that same kind of impact.
